It has been 5 years since I created Build Your Own Scrum (BYOS). Thanks to you, it’s helped tens of thousands of people around the world learn scrum without a boring lecture.
Since 2011, I’ve personally taught thousands of people scrum using BYOS. I’ve used it to interview candidate scrum masters for clients and to help teams surface areas they need help in during my coaching work. It’s an insanely powerful tool that I’ve learned so much about over the last 5 years of constant use.
On April 13th, I’ll be offering a workshop in San Diego (which is the day after the San Diego Scrum Gathering).
This workshop isn’t a bunch of lecture with no action. Nope. That’d be silly. It’s hands on. You’ll get to practice the skills you’re learning right there with me. Practice your facilitation of BYOS for teaching scrum and get instant feedback from me and the other participants. You’ll even get to practice using BYOS for things not covered in the facilitation guide, including using it as an interview/evaluation activity, and most importantly, a coaching tool.
1-on-1 Mentoring – While practicing in a workshop context is good, getting feedback on your facilitation with an actual class of your own is invaluable. As part of this workshop you have the add-on option of getting mentoring and coaching from me directly. Send me video of you in action after the workshop. I’ll watch the video and then meet with you via Skype to give you feedback and coaching on your approach. Once you integrate the feedback I’ve given you, run BYOS again, then we can schedule a second call for follow-up.
Not to worry! I’m offering 1-on-1 coaching and mentoring for remote folks. Schedule a Skype call with me to discuss your questions about BYOS. During the call I’ll give you pointers and “homework” for the next time you run a workshop. I’ll then review the footage of you delivering BYOS to a class, and schedule a Skype call for coaching. We’ll also schedule a second follow-up call – just like the 1-on-1 mentoring I offer with the in-person course.
Give me a call at 415-944-7998 or send me an email. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.
